Fibromyalgia

When you suffer from fibromyalgia pain it hurts to be touched. The disorder is characterized by persistent pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that radiates throughout the body for at least 3 months. The Feldenkrais Method addresses chronic muscle pain in the neck, shoulders, and back, as well as dull aches and discomfort in the soft tissues behind the head, between the shoulder blades, and around the hips, knees, and elbows.

Though it is more common in women, fibromyalgia pain has no specific cause or cure. It may be triggered by traumatic stress or a sudden injury. It may be genetic or related to an abnormal sensitivity to pain signals in the brain. In addition, you may be suffering from muscle stiffness, insomnia, extreme fatigue, anxiety or depression.

The Feldenkrais Method offers a non-conventional fibromyalgia treatment that focuses on the whole body. Our treatment for fibromyalgia pain helps relieve muscle pain around the "tender points" that you describe. These gentle lessons are designed to restore balance and create a more fluid relationship among muscle groups throughout the body to help eliminate your fibromyalgia pain.
