Fibromyalgia

When you suffer from fibromyalgia it hurts to be touched. The disorder is characterized by persistent pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that radiates throughout the body for at least 3 months. The Feldenkrais Method addresses chronic muscle pain in the neck, shoulders, and back, as well as dull aches and discomfort in the soft tissues behind the head, between the shoulder blades, and around the hips, knees, and elbows.

Though it is more common in women, fibromyalgia pain has no specific cause or cure. It may be triggered by traumatic stress or a sudden injury. It may be genetic or related to an abnormal sensitivity to pain signals in the brain. In addition, you may be suffering from muscle stiffness, insomnia, extreme fatigue, anxiety or depression.

At the Feldenkrais Center in Encinitas, CA we listen and we heal.

The Feldenkrais Method offers non-conventional chronic pain treatment that focuses on the whole body. Our exercises for fibromyalgia help relieve muscle pain around the "tender points" that you describe. The technique is designed to restore balance and create a more fluid relationship among muscle groups throughout the body to help eliminate your pain.

At the Feldenkrais Center in Encinitas CA we will guide you through a series of gentle, non-invasive movements in a quiet relaxed setting. Our goal is to help you take control of your body to treat chronic pain, improve sleep, increase energy and lift your spirits. Many patients feel more comfortable within a week of treatment.
